Tamara Irving (MEd, BBA) is a distinguished arts educator and performer. After graduating from Howard University, she was a dancer with the Atlanta Hawks Dance Team and the Atlanta Opera. She was in the premiere casts of both the Hamburg Germany Company and the Cheetah US National Tour of Disney’s The Lion King. Tamara recently completed 12 years as the dance director at North Atlanta High School where she was Teacher of the Year, and an International Baccalaureate Dance teacher. She received her MA in Dance Education from UNC Greensboro in 2017. Tamara is an adjunct instructor at Kennesaw State University and Brenau University. She is owner of TMI Design & Consulting, a consulting firm that supports arts education programs. In addition, her newest venture Dance Stories ATL was created alongside her Howard University Bison colleague, Shoccara Marcus, to celebrate the history of the black dance community of Atlanta, GA.
